Gone Cycling for the Summer

.
I'm gone cycling for the summer.
If you have any other bike trails to add to my list--let me know.

(The Tuesday Column will be back by the last week of August)

Are there places where we can send you mail/packages?

Keith Drury said...

AMANDA, I won't use mail drops on cycling trips since there are plenty of towns and supplies. Thanks for all the packages you've sent when I've backpacked though--I remember plenty of times when there were virtually no stores and just a tiny post office and your "care packages" were life-savers! Thanks!

Sounds fun! Let us know how it goes...we'd like to do some bike stuff sometime...maybe we could tag along sometime! PS: ever think of biking in OR? I don' tknow about trails, but we hiked with a guy who did some touring in OR on back roads and LOVED it.

I think you have to check out the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia. If you are not familiar with it... Google it... It is unbelievable!

I wish you a leather rear! I intend to spend much of my holiday on a bike too but one with a roaring Italian 1000cc V-twin engine! :-)

Will Sharon be your fellow traveler?

JESS>>> You bet.. we'd enjoy a trip with you and Mark for sure!

ANDREW>>> Thanks for the tip--I'll check out the Cabot trail!

JAMES>>> When the knees give out completely I'll join you with 1000cc's ;-)

KERRY>>>> One of my reasons for going into cycling is Sharon has "mevied beyond" backpacking... yes, she and I will do the GAP-C&O together in July....

Coach D,
If you need accomodations in Pittsburgh or a church to attend when you start/finish there, let me know. We would be glad to host you!
Sounds like a great summer!

ahhh...to be a college professor... :) Just kidding hope you and your wife have a great trip and would love to do it with my wife someday.

I live in Minnesota and know we also have some great bike trails here and in Wisconsin too.

Many blessings to you and can't wait for some more thought provoking banner come August!

"When the knees give out completely I'll join you with 1000cc's ;-)" .... no point in that by then you won't be able to get your knees down going round the corners which after all is the point of motorbikes!

Good bike choice. My 7200 served me well until it was stolen last year. :) Now I have a 7000 hybrid which isn't as smooth, but I guess I still have it. Can't wait to hear more.

Keith Drury said...

JOSH... the 7200 is a excellent cycle for the price--I like it. (but I LOVE my new Salsa Fargo which I just rode for the first time today. The fargo is designed for the Continental Divide Route--which I may start next year..but I'm not sure I can KEEP off the Fargo this summer--even with the fat tires it still goes faster then my 7200. Stop by sometime and I'll let you ride it!

You should see (and ride) the trails of Germany

Enjoy your rides. Looking at the White Pine Trail in MI looks like an easy day or two ride. Maybe Joe and I will attempt it this summer yet.
