39 is a lot of months to be pregnant. Maybe we should scale that back to weeks.

This was a great reminder of why it so important to listen for and respond to God amidst the routine of daily life. The little things do matter and they do make a difference.

Can’t help but wonder how much good God fails to accomplish down here because we neglect the little promptings?

Along with all of this, God sure put a lot of trust in Mary and Joseph in regards to raising the Messiah. Maybe it’s because they were ready to respond with little actions to the little promptings.

Thanks for encouraging us to be alert and ready to respond to His quiet voice during a loud time of the year.

Great article.

No thought-provoking commentary in this post, just affirmation of your genius :-).

Coach, when I watched the Nativity Story a couple weeks ago, it reminded me of how much patience and providence was involved in God saving the world. I mean, 9 months of pregnancy, trip through the desert, live for 30 whole years before you go public . . . it's a long time to save the world, not to mention millenia beforehand with the patriarchs and Israel. God sure is more patient than I am.

Ahhh, what a nice Drury-ish devotional thought!! Makes me feel like I'm back in your classroom. :)

Great reminder to respond to those promptings!

Keith ... I like the thought that God needs me to accomplish something big in history, but I know better.

What if nobody had said "yes" to God? He would have accomplished his sovereign will by other means.

I guess I learned something at GCTS ;-)
